My first book which explains in great detail the academic
index, the inside story on standardized testing and
a firsthand view of the Ivy League admissions process.
Every year I read all the new books on admissions to
keep current. Below is a very short collection of what
I consider the most helpful and clear books written on
admissions in the last few years. It’s worth taking
the time to educate yourself regarding the new college
admissions scene as the process can seem scary from the
outside looking in! Even better, would be to explore some of the resources and products I've spent years developing to help you with the admissions process.
On Writing the College
Application Essay: The Key to Acceptance and the College
of your Choice by Harry Bauld
This is my favorite book on the college application
essay written by my friend and former colleague Harry
Bauld. Highly recommended both for its superb content
and its humor.
What It Really Takes to Get
Into Ivy League and Other Highly Selective Colleges
by Chuck Hughes
New book by a senior admissions officer at Harvard
– one of the few that delivers what is promised.
A terrific section on what awards really count in each
field.
The Early Admissions Game:
Joining the Elite
by Christopher Avery et al
Must reading for those who want real numbers on the
early admissions process based on a study the authors
did over several years. I couldn’t put it down.
